Medical Explorer Post 575 Earns Bronze Level Award
The Medical Explorer Post sponsored byWilkes-Barre General Hospital earned the 2013 National Exploring Journey to Excellence Award at the bronze level. The award is achieved by units on a point system based on criteria for programming, adult and youth leadership, service projects, and other activities.“This is a significant achievement for our post,”stated Rosemarie Taylor, Post Advisor. “We are a young unit, just starting our third year. The post committee and the youth officers workedvery hard to achieve this goal.We’re hoping to improve our performance to the silver or even gold level for next year.”
Medical Exploring is part of the national Learning for Life program. The program’s main goal is to expose young men and women, ages 14 to 20, to the various career options in the health care field. Along the way they develop life skills like CPR, gain leadership and service experience, and learn about making ethical choices.
